La firma è quella di Hemingway. E questo basterebbe. La storia è ambientata a Cuba. E anche questo basterebbe. Un libro intenso, ricco di particolari, descrizioni approfondite e denso di umanità. Può sembrare una storia di un pescatore, in realtà è la lotta dell’uomo contro la società e contro se stesso. Santiago, il vecchio protagonista della storia, non pesca un pesce da ottantaquattro giorni. Ormai è diventato salao, la peggior forma di sfortuna che si possa avere. Ma questo non lo tiene lontano dal mare.
